desktop reskin
The Desktop Reskin project transforms a modern computer interface into a nostalgic visual experience by redesigning it to resemble an old-school desktop environment. This includes custom icons, wallpapers, sounds, and UI elements inspired by vintage operating systems (such as Windows 95, Mac OS 9, or early Linux interfaces). The project blends graphic design with user interface customization, aiming to evoke a sense of nostalgia while maintaining usability. It demonstrates both aesthetic creativity and functional design thinking.

The sketching process began with quick, exploratory drawings to generate ideas and define the visual direction of the project. These initial sketches helped map out composition, layout, and key elements without the pressure of perfection. Through iteration, rough concepts were refined into more detailed visuals, allowing for creative freedom while establishing a solid foundation for the final design. Sketching served as a crucial step in visual problem-solving and bringing abstract ideas into focus.
After finalizing sketches, the reskinning process moved into digital execution. Using design software, visual elements such as icons, wallpapers, and window frames were recreated with a vintage aesthetic, inspired by classic desktop interfaces. Careful attention was given to black color palettes, pixel-based details, and typography to maintain an authentic retro feel. Each component was tested and refined to ensure both visual consistency and functionality within the desktop environment, blending nostalgia with modern usability.
